RIO COLORADO 99S
The Don and Tookie Hensley Memorial Scholarship is a progressive award, given to Student Pilots with a need of financial assistance to become licensed pilots. The award provides up to $4000 toward completion of the Recreational Pilot, Sport Pilot, or Private Pilot certification in any aircraft category. This award will be given progressively to winners AFTER they complete eligible milestones in their training.
REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICANT:
United States citizen, maintaining legal residence in Mohave or La Paz county.
Proficient in English-must be able to speak, read, and understand English.
Written essay explaining history, interest, and aviation goals, in addition to how you plan to contribute to aviation when you become certified.
Two personal letters of recommendation.
Letter of Recommendation from flight instructor.
Must have a current medical certificate, if it is required for the pilot certificate.
Each applicant must have a mentor, a 99 or other individual that will support the applicant through the training process. The Rio Colorado 99s will assign a mentor to each applicant.
DEADLINES FOR APPLICATION PACKET:
Applications will be accepted at any time, by any member of the Rio Colorado 99s, and will be passed on to the Scholarship Committee. If your application is awarded the scholarship, training must be completed within 18 months. On being accepted as eligible for Milestone Awards, you will receive a detailed packet outlining the process.
